A visitor for tea!

Gaze at the offering laid out on nature’s table. Sip on its sustenance; it is food for the soul.

High tea, presented by nature, draws the occupants of my wilderness into a communion of fellowship, and the conversation between friends is heartwarming.

The closeness. The deep-throated clicks. The look and the acceptance.

It is in these moments that there is a warmth that builds within me. The hairs on my arms rise to capture the majesty of the moment, the hollowness in my stomach is filled and my heart rejoices in the presence of a kindred spirit.

There was an Owl that talked to me in the garden, a Robin that gardened next to my hand, a field mouse that came to visit and a Dassie that passed its last moments in the shade and safety of an ornamental shrub. Of course, we have porcupines and bushpig that ravage the Arum’s but in doing so, spread the bulbs to bring future pleasures to unknown beings.

Fellowship with nature is a blueprint for life, handed down from the beginning of creation. Partake in its tea, embrace its occupants and be filled with a lightness of spirit.
