Fridayfootprints – Friday 5th May 2023

Step by step, slowly into stillness, I search for wisdom!

To understand the un-understandable, to know the unknown.

Within the forest of my wilderness, the search is for a tree of wisdom, For, with wisdom given by my Lord, so will come understanding and knowledge in His time. It is to find this stillness where I can seek the fellowship of wisdom with Him.

Within the gardens of His creation, my journey amongst nature is at a snail’s pace. Stopping to savour each morsel that I find as I listen to the whispers of His voice, echoed in the chirps and whistles of nature’s voice.

As I dig in the soil of His making, my senses are touched by His words, set free as the leaves of seasons past break down to reveal the goodness within.

And in this Eden, I go deeper into stillness waiting for His wisdom to be imbued in my being. Each path through the garden is a path closer to Him and eternity. Each moment of stillness is a chance to hear His word spoken in the silence of the presence of the Holy Spirit.

Speak Lord, I listen!

The waters of our baptism are the reflection of path of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Footprintss of His purity that pace across the serene silence of His whispers.

It is the opening of our minds that leads us to understand the purpose of His words gleaned from the pages of our wilderness.

Through the peace and calmness, we submit ourselves to the path He has prepared us for. It is through His wisdom that we learn in the face of all adversity. Be still my soul that I may seek His footsteps on the still waters, and that His presence will be with me in all that lies ahead.

I would be shrouded in His peace that I may be close to Him and He to me, guided in perpetual communion with Him.

Gardeners with God do not know when the Master Gardener is coming.

Tending to the garden and all the tasks associated with this is not a luxury of our ‘Faith’, rather a necessity. If we have faith then we have wisdom and it is the wisdom portion of our faith which means that we keep on gardening, no matter what!

It is the wisdom part of faith that tells us we cannot leave the garden to tend for itself and then when the ‘unexpected hour’ arrives, we start looking for excuses as to why the gardening tasks have been neglected, the garden is overgrown, the fruit is rotten, the blossoms spent and the weeds have taken over.

Gardeners with God know through faith that we will be found in the garden, ready with the tools of our trade, when the hour arrives.

(Luke 12:40)

Our mouths are open, what are the words? Are there words or are we just sticking our tongues at the world or God?

Where is the wisdom in what we say?

Whilst the, ‘meditation of my heart shall be understanding’, exists; the road from understanding to speaking wisely is littered with roadblocks and detours.

The fact that we have opened our mouths is no guarantee that the words that will come out or that they will be wise. And even the wisest words are sometimes just not fully understood!

The world is filled with open-mouthed babble which overshadows the whispers of wisdom. Here in the garden, in God’s presence, meditation brings its own understanding of wisdom. Being able to speak it is another matter entirely!

(Psalm 49:3)
